What HavenMatch is (and isn’t)
HavenMatch is an online directory where providers of residential care, group homes, respite care and assisted living can publish information about their homes, and where families and professionals can find them and get in touch directly.
HavenMatch is not a care provider, a placement or referral agency, or a healthcare provider. We don’t assess anyone’s care needs, recommend any provider, arrange placements or take part in agreements between families and providers. Nothing on HavenMatch is medical, legal or financial advice.
If someone is in immediate danger or having a medical emergency, call 911.
Who can use HavenMatch
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. If you create an account on behalf of a business or organization, you confirm that you’re authorized to act for it and to accept these Terms on its behalf.
Your account
- Give accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.
- Keep your password private. You’re responsible for activity on your account. Tell us right away through the Contact page if you think someone else has accessed it.
- Choose the right account type: Family accounts are for people looking for care; Business accounts are for providers who list homes.
- You can delete your account at any time in Account settings.
For families and professionals
Listings are written by providers. HavenMatch reviews new listings before they appear publicly, but we don’t inspect homes or verify every statement in a listing, and we can’t guarantee that any listing is accurate, complete or current, or that a home is licensed, safe, suitable or available.
Before choosing a provider, you should:
- confirm the provider’s license or certification with the appropriate state agency;
- visit the home and meet the staff;
- ask about services, staffing, costs, funding (such as Medicaid waivers) and inspection history; and
- involve the individual’s care team, case manager or support coordinator where appropriate.
Any decision to use a provider, and any agreement you make with one, is between you and that provider.
The “Verified” badge
A “Verified by HavenMatch” badge means we completed a basic review of that provider at a point in time, such as confirming we could reach them at the contact details listed and, where a license number is given, checking it against the issuing agency’s public records. It isn’t an inspection, a rating or an endorsement, and it doesn’t guarantee the quality or safety of care. Licenses can change after we check, so families should still confirm the license themselves. We may add or remove the badge at any time.
Provider listing standards
If you list a home on HavenMatch, you agree that:
- You’re authorized. You own or operate the home, or are authorized by the owner or operator to list it.
- You’re properly licensed. You hold every license, certification and approval the law requires for the services you describe, and you’ll keep them in good standing.
- Your listing is accurate. Care type, location, capacity, services, funding, license details, availability and contact details are true and kept current. Mark the home as full when it’s not accepting residents, confirm your availability when we ask, and remove listings for homes that close.
- You have the rights to your photos. You own or have permission to use every photo, and photos don’t show residents or other identifiable people without their documented consent (or their legal representative’s).
- You don’t discriminate. Your listing and your responses comply with the Fair Housing Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act and other anti-discrimination laws. Don’t state preferences or limitations based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, familial status, disability or any other protected characteristic, except as the law expressly allows for your licensed services.
- You handle inquiries properly. Use the contact details families send you only to respond to their inquiry, keep them confidential, and don’t add people to marketing lists without their consent.
- You don’t publish private information about residents, staff or families, or anything that is false, misleading, defamatory or unlawful.
New listings are reviewed before they become public. We may decline, edit for formatting, hide or remove any listing, or ask for changes, at our discretion, including if we receive a credible complaint or report about it. Anyone can report a listing; reports go to HavenMatch, not to the provider.
Acceptable use
When using HavenMatch, don’t:
- post false information, or impersonate any person or organization;
- harass, threaten or abuse anyone, or send spam or unsolicited advertising;
- collect other users’ information, or copy listings in bulk (by scraping or other automated means) without our written permission;
- try to get into accounts or areas you don’t have access to, test or bypass our security, or disrupt the site;
- upload viruses or other harmful code; or
- use HavenMatch for anything illegal.
Content you post
You keep ownership of the listings, photos and messages you submit (“your content”). You give HavenMatch a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, reproduce and format your content to operate and promote HavenMatch, for as long as it’s on the site and for a reasonable time afterward to remove it from backups and cached copies. You’re responsible for your content and confirm you have the rights needed to grant this license.
If you send us feedback or suggestions, we may use them without any obligation to you.
Fees
HavenMatch is currently free for families and providers. If we introduce paid features, we’ll explain the price and terms before you’re charged; nothing you’re using for free today will start costing money without your agreement.
Third-party sites and services
HavenMatch may link to or rely on services run by others, such as Google sign-in or a provider’s own website. We aren’t responsible for those services, and your use of them is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.
Our intellectual property
The HavenMatch name, logo, site design and original text and images are owned by HavenMatch or its licensors and are protected by law. You may use the site for its intended purpose, but you may not copy, modify or distribute our materials without permission.
Copyright complaints
If you believe something on HavenMatch infringes your copyright, send us a notice through the Contact page (choose “Report a listing”) that identifies the work, the material on HavenMatch you believe infringes it and where it appears, your contact information, and a statement that you believe in good faith the use isn’t authorized. We’ll review and remove material where appropriate.
Suspension and termination
You can stop using HavenMatch and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end your access, or remove your content, if you break these Terms, if required by law, or to protect HavenMatch or its users. Sections that by their nature should survive (such as content licenses for backups, disclaimers, limits of liability and indemnity) continue after your account ends.
Disclaimers
HavenMatch is provided “as is” and “as available.” To the fullest extent the law allows, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title and non-infringement. We don’t warrant that the site will be uninterrupted or error-free, or that any listing or other content is accurate, reliable or complete. We are not responsible for the conduct of any provider, family or other user, or for the quality, safety or legality of any care or services.
Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, HavenMatch and its owners, operators and contributors will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or goodwill, arising from or related to your use of HavenMatch or any care or services arranged through it, even if we were told such damages were possible. Our total liability for any claim relating to HavenMatch is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim or one hundred U.S. dollars ($100).
Some places don’t allow certain disclaimers or limits on liability, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Indemnity
You agree to defend, indemnify and hold harmless HavenMatch and its owners and operators from claims, losses and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your content, your use of HavenMatch, your breach of these Terms or, for providers, the services you provide.
Disputes and governing law
If you have a concern, please contact us first through the Contact page; most issues can be resolved quickly that way, and we ask that both sides try to resolve a dispute informally for 30 days before starting a legal proceeding.
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any legal action relating to HavenMatch will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, and you and HavenMatch consent to those courts’ jurisdiction, except that either side may bring an individual claim in small claims court.
Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We’ll change the “Last updated” date above, and for significant changes we’ll give notice on the site or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use HavenMatch after changes take effect means you accept them.
General
These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and HavenMatch about the site. If any part of these Terms can’t be enforced, the rest stays in effect. Our not enforcing a provision isn’t a waiver of it. You may not transfer your rights under these Terms without our consent; we may transfer ours as part of a reorganization or sale of HavenMatch.
